The sky was clear, the air crisp, and an overall perfect morning if you could deal with the excessive and utterly ridiculous mumblechatter from the Vets boys. Who would have thought the hardest part of the morning would be counting IC over random discussions about God knows what from Kilo and Worm. In seriousness, the Vets boys are great HIM and it was awesome to finally get out there for a Q.
Clock struck 5:30 and the PAX of 15, including Stickup, Yoshi, Bunghole, Mash, Worm, Kilo, Meatball, Violet, Handbook, Bobber (FNG), Tony Malito, No Nuts, Sticker Boy, Cousin Eddie, any myself took two quick warmup laps around the monument before circling up for warm ups, which included:
- 40 SSH (IC – 20 regular, 20 double-time)
- 10 Grass grabbers
- 20 Imperial Walkers
- 20 Peter Parkers
- Runner’s stretch
- Merkins/Groiners – 1:1-5:5 and back down
We then moseyed to the parking lot and lined up for some dynamic movements. These included:
- Bear Crawl (~30 yds.) – 25 squats – mosey back
- Broad Jumps (~30 yds.) – 25 squats – mosey back
- Flying Nuns (~30 yds.) – 25 squats – mosey back
- Burpee Shuffle (~30 yds.) – 25 squats – mosey back
Main Thang:
- 11s – Merkins and CC Squats
Breathing was heavy at this point so we took a few seconds to recover before circling up for something I made up on the fly – Shuffle Burpee Carousel. PAX formed a spaced-out circle with plenty of room in-between each other. In unison, moving counter-clockwise, we performed three shuffles to one burpee. This was repeated until PAX ended up in original position. Let’s just say burpee technique and basics of coordination is not this group’s strong suit – but we had fun.
For extra credit, PAX stayed in formation and performed three rounds of the following:
- 15 Shoulder taps
- 10 tempo Merkins
- 10 Speed Merkins
After quick mosey back to the flag we circled up for Mary. This included:
- 30 Flutter Kicks
- 20 V-ups
- 20 Single-leg Flutter Kicks (both sides)
- 20 LBCs
- One round of elevator (1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor) – 5s count in between each PAX member calling their floor
Time was called at 6:15. We welcomed an FNG (Bobber), shared announcements, intentions, and said a prayer to the sky Q for another beautiful day. Thanks to all who came in support of my first Q at Vets. Looking forward to next time! – Russ
