BB – The Max @ Bayside on 2/2/21 w/ Jimmy Neutron

9 PAX made it out for a Groundhog Day workout:

Pickleball

We hopped out of the warmth and comfort of our cars and had a little small talk as we prepared around 5:25. At 5:30 I announced that it was time to get started. I introduced myself, thanked everyone for the opportunity to lead on Groundhog Day, and went through the disclaimer.

We started our workout with 10 Nuclears, speeding up each round as we counted down from 10 to 1. Then we did a little stretching, including downward dog, calf stretches, runners stretch, Kendra Newman’s and Michael Phelps. Quickly followed up with 20 body builders to keep the blood pumping. We moseyed over to the football field markers on the parking lot and I explained our next stage:

Part 1:
J-Lo’s
Gas Pumps
American Hammers
Big Boys
LBCs

Part 2:
Bear Crawl 10 yards, 5 merkins, Bernie Sanders back
Bear Crawl 20 yards, 5 merkins, Bernie Sanders back
Bear Crawl 30 yards, 5 merkins, Bernie Sanders back
Bear Crawl 40 yards, 5 merkins, Bernie Sanders back
Bear Crawl 50 yards, 5 merkins, Bernie Sanders back

We grouped into partners. Partner 1 started on the bear crawls while the Partner 2 did J-Lo’s until they got back. Once Partner 1 returned Partner 2 did bear crawls and Partner 1 did J-Lo’s. We proceeded through all 5 rounds with each partner completing all of the bear crawls and core exercises. Once the last group finished we moseyed to the corner of the parking lot. We then did 5 Boy-O’s and ran the perimeter of the parking lot, stopping to do 5 more Boy-O’s at each corner.

Unfortunately time did not permit for another Boy-O lap so we sprinted to the flag to finally escape from our Groundhog Day purgatory.

NOTES: There were a few laughs (and a couple groans) once we started Round 2 and guys realized what groundhog day really meant. Squid was the first to ask the question, “do you ever feel like we have been in this exact moment before?” Pickleball discovered that he can bear crawl much faster without added weight on his back. Charolais was disappointed that we didn’t get a final round of Boy-O’s and sprints in. And I almost forgot to record attendance at the end but was saved by Edward Scissorhands.

At the flag we ended with COR, NOR, announcements and intentions. Pickleball gave everyone some inspiration and reflection of what F3 really means in terms of getting out, staying out, and staying active. No intentions spoken aloud. We ended with an Our Father.

Overall a great and “fun” way to celebrate Groundhog Day with a great group of men!
