BB Squid Q @ Wisteria – Pleasantville 02.12.21

Once I decided to jump on the IHC train this year, I quickly got to scheduling my Q’s. Today is the first stop on my Tour de ‘Ville de Sequel. This time I will be hitting all 11 official AO’s and all three recurring BO sites (weather permitting). The first 13 stops will be consecutive Q’s over the next two weeks. I’ll grab Oldham in March.

With that said, I try to be intentional about the WO. I like to utilized each AO’s unique characteristics. Since today was Pleasantville, I wanted to highlight the amphitheater. I showed up early to assess the conditions, I was ready to modify if the steps were slick. Turned out there was enough snow on top of the ice, that traction was not an issue. Plan A was a go.

PAX started showing up a few minutes before 0530. F-Stop is used to the lightless Abyss and tried to sneak in with a different vehicle, but since Pleasantville is lit he was found out. Wildflower, Holly Roller, Asian Zing and FOCKER all rolled in just before start was called.

At 0530 I made sure the PAX knew everything I said was merely a suggestion, I advised them to modify as necessary and I reminded them that we were here to get better, not to get hurt. Following the disclaimer the PAX responded with an emphatic “Aye!”

We took a short mosey down the hill to the amphitheater for a brief warm up. SSH (IC), Grass Grabber (IC-L,M,R), Downward Dog with some runners stretches, Kendra Newmans, Michael Phelps, arms across the chest, arms behind the head and we finished on our six stretching our back.

Next I explained the thang. Starting at the bottom of the amphitheater, we performed 5 reps of an exercise. We then box jumped onto the next level and performed 10 reps of the same exercise. We climbed to the top of Mt. Pleasant counting by 5 up to 25 and back down to 5. Once you reached the top, mosey around and down to the bottom and start with the next exercise.

The exercises were:
Judo Merkin
Toddler Squat
Dips
Monkey Humpers
Blades of Steel
Calf Raises
Burpees

I intentionally wrote this weinke assuming most would only make it to the calf raises. To my surprise almost everyone made it to the Burpees. With a couple minutes left, I had the PAX switch to one burpee at each level. I wanted everyone to finish at the top of our mountain. We all reached the peak at 0615 and time was called.

Oh, and if you read the PB and wondered what the bear found when he got to the top of the mountain; the other side of the mountain was all that he could see. Sometimes, I just want to go back to the nonsensical 90’s. Times were simpler then. Haha.
