Because it hadn’t rained in a while and I had new Solomon Speedcross 5’s to break in, I decided that we would take a trip to the steep hill on the backside of the Mutt playing fields with coupons in hand. Once we arrived, we split into 4 groups of 4 Pax. One at a time, each Pax would run up the hill with his coupon, do 5 man makers at the top, and then “run” back down while the remaining Pax in the group did AMRAP of 10 coupon curls, 10 overheard presses and 10 coupon rows. We did 3 rounds of this and then put the coupons away and moved to the main parking lot for Thang 2.
This Thang was a Jack Webb progression of 1:4 ratios of burpees and lunge walks with the goal of getting to 10 burpees and 40 lung walks. We did this for approximately 10 minutes. Most of the Pax did not quite finish although I believe at least one did (I see you Wham-O).
With around 7 minutes left, we partnered up for a core and cardio focused Dora. While one partner ran across the parking lot and then Bernie Sanders’ed back, the other partner was working on big boys (round 1), rosalita’s (round 2), and gas pumps (round 3). Each partner group worked their way to 50 combined big boys, 100 combined rosalita’s, and 150 combined Gas pumps. I called time at 0615 and we headed back to the imaginary flag for COT
We counted off, said the names and then did announcements and intentions. Prayers to Windshield and his family and gratitude for the health of Larry Flynt’s uncle and the new addition to Glenn Ross’s family.
I then thanked the Pax for being there for me since I started my F3 journey almost 4 years ago and reminded them (and me) to not get caught up on the small things (like UofL losing last night) and instead focus on the important things in life. I struggle with this and I’m sure many others do as well.
We closed with an Our Father and then went on our way to win the rest of the day. Until next time gents…
