Back Blast – The Chopper at Vets – 05/21/2021

As noted in my pre-blast, there’s something calming about posting at the Vets.

Perhaps it’s the gentle soothing noise of Meatball’s cadence of passing gas. Or, perhaps it’s Violet’s authoritarian voice which calms all fears. Or, maybe it’s Worm’s constant bickering and moaning about actually doing a work out.

Either way, it’s always a good time at Vets. Those men know how to have fun and I like getting my monthly dose of it.

  • Snowman
  • Bombay
  • Nan Moore
  • Aerobie (R)
  • Ladybird (R)
  • Leno
  • Diablo
  • Meatball
  • Bunghole
  • Violet
  • Hot Wheels
  • Jolly Rancher (Q)

Time was called just about the same time as Violet started commenting on his own short shorts. He loves short shorts apparently – something about the gentle breeze that he could feel between his legs when wearing them. We took a quick circle mosey around the monument and then kicked things off.

Thang 1 – Dora

We partnered up, which meant one group was a threesome. We did a pretty simple Dora, which included one PAX running the circle around the monument while the other started the following exercises:

  • 100x – Overhead Presses
  • 200x – Tricep Extension / Skull Crushers
  • 300x – Curls

Then, when PAX one got back to the group they’d switcheroo and the second PAX picks up the same rep count.

Thang 2 – Welsch Dragon

This was introduced to me by Dutch Boy from F3 MECA when he came in town a few weeks ago. It’s equally as simple, but much higher on the suck factor. Similarly, one PAX runs the circle around the monument while the other started the following:

  • 4x – Bear Crawl
  • 1x – Merkin, Plank Jack, Shoulder Taps
  • 4x – Bear Crawl
  • 2x – Merkin, Plank Jack, Shoulder Taps
  • 4x – Bear Crawl
  • 3x – Merkin, Plank Jack, Shoulder Taps
  • 4x – Bear Crawl
  • 4x – Merkin, Plank Jack, Shoulder Taps

Obviously, when the first PAX caught up to their partner, they’d switch but keep your own count basically. I wasn’t sure how long this would take as that circle seemed like a half mile long about 5-minutes into this set. But, we made it around with Bunghole and Violet setting the strong pace up front.

We had a few minutes left for Mary, which included:

  • Gas Pumps – led by YHC
  • Flutter Kicks – led by Violet
  • Freddy Mercury – led by Bunghole
  • Pickle Pounders – led by Meatball
  • LBCs – led by Hot Wheels
  • American Hammers – led by Diablo

Countarama, namearama, announcements and intentions. We closed out making specific mention of Old Bay’s efforts to support Hope Scarves, which includes a bunch of CSAUP stuff at The O on Saturday, May 22 – check Slack for more details.

I also welcomed the men to join me in the ball of man to end COT during our intentions. This is something that existed pre-COVID and with the world headed back in the right direction of normalcy we’re making an effort to do the same. But, we all need to respect the decisions of others if someone is not comfortable. So, just use your judgment.

Always a pleasure to lead.

Jolly Rancher out!
