It was raining hard and the wind was howling as I pulled up to the AO. My windshield wipers couldn’t possibly keep up with the torrent. It was impossible to discern parking spaces from puddles, but I could clearly see the men of The Patriot rucking in for the morning workout.
I thought it would have been great to have four or five show up given the weather, when I found 14 happily-drenched and ready to get after it my adrenaline surged.
I explained to the men the two rules for the day’s WO:
- We won’t stop moving, and
- Rests = Burpees
Thang was a Tabada:
- 8 sets of each exercise, 45 seconds on with 15 second Burpee Rests
- High knees
- Curls to overhead press
- Invisible jump rope
- Bent over Rows
- The Burpee rest intervals meant that each Pax member performed 40 15-second sets of burpees.
- We didn’t stop for the full 45 and hope the men appreciated it.
The reason why 15 got after it today with the weather as that bad is simple: leadership.
Focker and Holy Roller have created an extraordinary AO with a culture that’s tough to beat. I’ve been out of the gloom for a while and it’s inspirational to see how their expansion project has connected their community, changed the lives of dozens of men, and continues to surge forward (maybe a Saturday-morning BO in the works!?)
Devitto also flexed his leadership muscle this morning by giving us insight in the struggles of the Ukrainian people. His neighbor is Ukrainian, and has family fighting for the freedom of their country. We are all so blessed to enjoy the bounty of our freedom and stand with the Ukrainian people as they fight for theirs.
Glory to Ukraine! 🇺🇦
