Will keep this short as I’m already a few days late. Threw out a pre-ruck option and had four other HIMs [Chili Pepper, Holy Roller (R), Rip Van Winkle and Fitbit] decide to take me up on it – it was great mumblechatter with some PAX I don’t frequently get to see in the gloom. If you don’t ruck, I’d encourage you to give it a shot as it’s just another way to increase the 2nd F between the PAX.
We arrived back at the flag at 0655 – just enough time to greet the incoming PAX for the bootcamp at 0700. Time was called, disclaimers provided – the following PAX joined me:
- Colonel Klink
- Chili Pepper
- Holy Roller (R)
- Rip Van Winkle
- Yankovic (R)
- Jolly Rancher (Q)
Stayed at the statue for this, which included the standard SSH, grass grabbers, toy soldiers and hillbillies.
Thang 1 – Deck o Cards:
Simple, yet effective. Pulled out the deck of cards on my phone and introduced to the PAX that each number on the card is the rep count [face cards and aces were 10x each] and then the suite decides the exercises. We did:
- Spades – Merkins
- Clubs – Squats
- Diamonds – Plank Jacks
- Hearts – Big Boy Situps
But, before we started the Thang, we had to run all the way down to the dead-end street going parallel to the railroad tracks. All in, it is about 0.33 miles down. So, we set off for the mosey. Early finishers circled back and picked up the six. When we all arrived, we started going through the deck with the above. We stopped after 13 cards and then set off back towards the flag for another 0.33 miles.
At the flag, we did another 13 cards and then went back on a mosey to where we started basically. Another 13 cards and then back to the flag for the grand finale of the last 13 cards.
It was at this time that some of the runners from The County started to show up. It was pretty impressive as the City of LaGrange was being taken over by men in black F3 shirts – well, except Harry Caray who was sporting his bright neon yellow long sleeved shirt with yellow leggings and a yellow headband. I think he may be trying to steal Big Bird’s image.
Unfortunately, the runners were the early finishers that we saw which means we still had more time. So, we ran around the courthouse block and then did a few Jack Webbs with dips/step-ups and then squats/lunges until time was called.
We counted the bootcamp count then converged with the runners for the announcements and intentions. Lots of sick family and friends out there that need encouragement and prayers.
Afterwards, Lambeau made sure to comment that I missed namearama…DOH. Sorry – although, I did imply I was not a professional in the beginning.
Always a pleasure to lead!
Jolly Rancher out!
