7/22/22 – BB The Defender at The Patriot – Swag Q

This one is late, my apologies, but better late than never!

I was really debating keeping this Q Thursday night after the modified Robbie Miller Ruck Ops workout. YHC modified way down and it was still brutal. Props do those who have done it with no modification, woof.

In any case, I wanted to keep the Q for one main reason, Friday 7/22/22 would have been my brother in law Philip Jackson’s 52nd birthday. He was born July 22, 1970 and passed away due to cancer far too early on 2/2/2021. He served in the Marines for a time so I thought The Patriot was an appropriate place to remember him on his birthday.

The PAX rolled in, time was called, disclaimer was given and we were off. Those in attendance were:

Focker, Chili Pepper, Malpractice, Holy Roller (R), Patty, Marty Byrde (R), Furdays, Colonel Klink, Tagalong (R), Single Source, Tudors and Swag (Q)

COP: To be honest my nearly 42 year old brain is having some trouble remembering what we did. But I think we ran a lap around the courthouse and then proceeded to do some things to continue to get warm that included some SSH and other enjoyable movements.

The Thang: Kept it simple on this day, asked the PAX to remember by brother in laws birthday and moved into a tabata. 3 rounds each exercise, 45 seconds of work, 20 seconds of rest.

-Coupon Squats

-Overhead Press

-Big Boys w/ Coupon

-Man Makers

After 1 round of this, we took a lap around the City Place block, then came back for round 2.

However, we didn’t have enough time to make it all the way back through, so we went backwards this time…so as not to deprive the PAX of Man Makers again.

COT: With about 5 minutes left we headed back to the statue where Holy Roller lead us in some coupon stretches with pauses that, when stitched together, resembled more Man Makers.

Time was called, name-o-rama, announcements, intentions and prayer.

One final thought, it’s tough to put the feet on the floor some mornings and conquer the fart sack. But with my brother in law on my mind, in a wheelchair at the end, I thank the Sky Q that I’m physically able to come and do this crazy shit with all of you.

Sometimes I can’t wait for it to end, but I sure as hell can’t wait for it to start again.
