Selfishly, Pleasantville is my favorite AO. And despite all the areas there are to explore there, my favorite spot has always been the path along the pond leading to the amphitheater. From this time of year through the early Fall, there’s just enough light through the second half of the workout to see the water and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while getting beat down. Plus there are two concrete landings along the path that give ample room for exercises. I didn’t know what exactly we were going to do Friday morning when I arrived, but I knew it would take place on that path. Here’s what we came up with:
PAX: Airplane, Mama’s Boy, Valdez, Schnitzel (DR- Hilton Head), Grinder (Q)
Quick mosey from the flag along to road to the far end of the path mentioned above, then down the hill to the first landing for COP: 20 SSHs, 20 Hillbillies, 20 Grass Grabbers, Downward Dog, Runners Stretch to Warrior Pose then some Michael Phelps.
Thang 1: Variation on a Triple Nickel. Do five burpees on first landing then run back up the hill to trail split and do five squats. Run back down to first landing, do five more burpees, then run to second landing and do five merkins. Run back to first landing for five burpees, then rinse and repeat for approximately 15 minutes.
Thang 2: Variation on Dirty McDeuce. At landing one, we did 10 merkins, 10 copperhead squats (IC) then 10 V-Ups. Run to next landing, do 10 dips, 10 mountain climbers (IC), then 10 Da-Vinci’s. Run back to first landing and repeat circuit four times as a group.
With a few minutes left to go, we pounded out some LBCs and pretzel crunches then made our way back to the flag. This was a small, but infinitely awesome group. There was lots of mumblechatter and joking and Schnitzel fit right in with us. I appreciate him sharing his story with us at COT of how he recovered from a broken neck(!!) last year with the help and support of his F3 brothers. Look HIM and his crew up if you’re ever in Hilton Head.
Always a delight to Q at Pleasantville. Grinder out.
