On the eve of the month of love…I love the anticipation of leading a group of men, uncertain of what’s in store for them. I love that it was dry and 43 degrees in late January the day after a monsoon. I love that everybody was on time ready to roll…except Tiger…you know he was given grief for it…again. Heck I just love the dudes at The Mutt. It’s like family there and the energy and mumble chatter is second to none! Glad to be a part of the group on this day.
Pax: Zima, Larry Flint, Tiger, Soft Top, Peeping Tom, Fall Guy (R), Tammy Faye Baker, Ball Boy, Deuce, Pope, Holy Roller, Digiorno, Wham-O (R), Glen Ross, BUSCHHHHH, BigBird – Q
0531, disclaimer was given and we would start with a short mosey around the church. Circle up on the side lot for COP: BLIMPS-5 burpees, 10 lunges (each leg a half), 15 Imperial Walkers IC, 20 Merkins IC, 25 Plank Jacks IC, 30 Squats. After that, an All Out to the front of the church.
Tabata-20 seconds on, 10 seconds off of Gorilla Merkins. I think Deuce got a little too excited about the lady’s voice in the mix. He was giving me grief but I think he was secretly hoping for more to take it to the bank.
Next we would mosey to the rectory and Crawl Bear down the driveway…or bear crawl…or just walk. Once at the bottom we would converge behind the building and grab a coupon for a 10 minute EMOM of 5 of each: Thrusters, Curls and Skull Crushers. Speaking of crushing, the PAX were crushing the workout leaving 30 seconds left in the minute for some STRONG mumble chatter. YHC decided we needed a bit more so we would add Push Presses in for the final 5 minutes.
From there we would put away our coupons and Bear Crawl up the steps….or again, maybe be just walk. As I was bear crawling up, I realized how silly this part of the workout was. Tiger would later say that was his favorite part.
Next it was time for another 10 minute EMOM: 10 Jump Lunges, 5 Burpees and 10 Merkins. This was a proud moment for me as I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed 15 Mutters working so hard…in as close to silence as is possible for Mutters.
We would get a couple of 10 counts before the last bit of fun. We listened to a gem of a song, Wonky Donkey, holding plank for the entirety of the song and doing two Donkey kicks every time we heard “Wonky Donkey.” I don’t know how but at the end of the song it was exactly 0615 and time was called.
Circled up at the flags for COR, NOR & COT The “6” was Fall Guy and we learned that he got his name because he falls a lot when running. Good to know because all of this time I thought he got his name due to his striking resemblance to Lee Majors…. We made a few announcements and said some intentions, namely for a friend of Tammy Faye’s that is struggling through MS.
I do love being at The Mutt and truly feel like part of the family and part of the special club when I’m there. Closed out by thanking the Sky Q for the prospect of another day and prayed an “Our Father.”
Until next time…
