Denouement: The climax of a chain of events, usually when something is decided or made clear.

1.28 and Uncle Sam would post this word on Slack as a noun describing the end to a week of County Q’s at the Abyss (sorry Dauber but you’ll always be County to me). After looking up the definition and phonetic pronunciation, I decided I had to make this one good and painful. Monday’s Q was unprecedented by Pelican as we worked in silence. I mean, has anyone ever witnessed Pelican being silent for that long? Much less at a workout greater than 60 seconds. And on Wednesday Dauber would bring with him some Boondocks flavor complete with some banjo playing and porch picking (or so I’ve heard). On Friday we wouldn’t work in silence but PAX would find it hard to speak. And YHC would bring a playlist but it wouldn’t be from the deep, dark hills of Eastern Kentucky. I told the PAX we would put the cherry on top by showing how this County boy rolls. At 0515, and at 14 degrees, I was proud to see 10 in attendance ready to get after it. Schotzie and NPR would join us shortly thereafter to give us 12.

Disclaimer given and we would head out for a short mosey, stopping at the half way point for 5 BOYOS. Return to the basketball court for COP: SSH, Abe Vagodas, Grass Grabbers, High Knees, Butt Kickers, Plank Jacks and Hovering Shoulder taps.

Following that we would get after it with a round of Tribal Tabata: Alt Merkins.

Recover and prep for The Thang: Registration for The Suicide Squad would be given just by showing up. Baseline 5 merkins, 5 sumo squats, 5 burpees. Run to half court-rinse and repeat-o. Run to other baseline and much of the same. After that we would run to the starting baseline and complete a full suicide. After that we would do the previous set of exercises but go up to 10. Perform all of the same but the next time go up to 15. The goal was to go back down the ladder but I had to modify the plan as 90 merkins, squats and burpees had smoked everyone…YHC included…WOOF Boys!!!

After a couple of 10 counts we would do a light mosey to the picnic tables where we would do three sets of 5 step ups and 10 dips. Recover and head back to the basketball court for…

The Fun: listen to the song Sucker for Pain by Lil Wayne. PAX would hold plank for the entirety of the song. YHC would call out Bird Dog on the chorus and we would lift up opposite arm and leg until “back to plank” was called.

Time was called and we would circle up around the flag for COR, NOR and COT. Backflop was our “6” and we learned how he got to be Louie the Cardinal and how long a pair of yellow socks can really be….for him. We made a few announcements of upcoming Q’s and said a few intentions. Thanked the Sky Q for the prospect of another day and for allowing us all to come out and get better together.
