Back Blast 11-Apr-2019 Thursday #theAgony at #theCounty 0530 Crock Pot Q

Weather: Couldn’t be better. 58 deg F, dry, with just enough wind to get a few glimpses of both the County flag and Ghost flag in full glory. YHC actually considered taking a photo but chose not to. My guess is there will be ample time to get a photo of the Ghost flag in it’s rightful home at the County (yes that was a subtle challenge directed at the other AO’s)

Thang:
Pick a card, any card… but this isn’t a magic show and YHC doesn’t know any card tricks. PAX got the luxury of choosing their own adventure in today’s workout. Their fate was determined by the card(s) they chose. After PAX made their card selection, they followed the matrix (see photos). We worked it top to bottom, directed by the characteristics of each respective card.
For example, in round 1, YHC drew the 4 of clubs, so the ensuing beat down was:
Planked Shoulder taps (black card)
Big Boy Sit Ups (clubs suit)
Burpees (NOT a face card)
Bernie Sanders down and back (it is a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7)
Sumo Squats (4 is evenly divisible by 2)
Freddie Mercury (4 is NOT evenly divisible by 3)
Lunge Walk (4 is an even number)
By the end of the workout, each PAX had drawn 4 cards, two of which were on the Alpha matrix, the other two on the Bravo matrix (again, see photos below). Each PAX got a unique workout today. Even if you drew all ‘black’ cards or all ‘face’ cards, note that you still got at least a little running, core, upper, and lower.
Unexpected 2nd F:
This matrix stuff might’ve been a little much for 0530, so YHC tried to preempt confusion by starting the explanation before the workout. It was a slow start, but we caught on quickly. All-in-all I’m proud that the PAX enjoyed some mumble chatter at my weinke’s expense. Airplane commented that it was ‘over-engineered’. He meant it as good natured banter, but (underestimating my nerdiness) he had no idea that this is the kindest compliment he’s ever given me. Le Pew explained the concept of outliers. Cochran rebutted an argument with proof that drawing ‘divisible by 3’ cards had the same odds as the ‘face card’ group. We are evidently kindred spirits, as Q himself had also done the math. On the other hand, I’m pretty sure it was Mama’s Boy asked if a “king” was evenly divisible by 2…… umm….. negative. Maybe he was just tired?!? (Note to self: invite him to poker)
On a more serious note, Irsay rejoined us after a cold winter spent nursing a bum shoulder. I figured if I told him we were planning a card game without him that he’d get the shakes and not be able help himself. McAfee worked in modifications so he could join despite an aggravated ankle. I’m sure they both missed the camaraderie of the gloom, but YHC interpreted their attendance as a direct vote of solidarity and support. Much appreciated. Respect.

Announcements- You need to HC now for: Passion Ruck 4/19, TMF (pre-convergence) Ruck 4/20, and Spring 2019 Convergence 4/20.
Message- Today you may have gotten good cards, playing to your strengths. Or you may have gotten lousy cards, making you work hard just to keep up. Life dealt us each a hand of cards. Since we live in a fallen world, some got a great hand, some got a lousy one. Some have the ability to trade up, some have to fight with all they have just to hold on to the cards in their hand. During your game, you might be freely given more cards. It’s a near-guarantee that at some point you’ll lose some, whether it was your fault or not. I encourage you to play your hand to the best of your ability. Start now.
As someone must wiser than me once told me, “work like everything depends on you, and pray like everything depends on God.”
Intentions- McAfee’s friends with baby twins (Ada, Ronin) in the NICU. Strength in the legs, back, and mind for our F3 brothers doing Star Course this weekend.
Closing Prayer
Until next meal,
