With the increase of heavy workouts popping up ITG. I thought I would try to bring a heavy inspired workout to The Mutt.  Most of the heavy workouts I’ve attended have been a circuit so I thought I would give it a try.  We didn’t have any plates but The Mutt has plenty of coupons.

We started with a little mosey to our normal COP spot, SSH, imperial walkers, followed by a good amount to stretching of the arms and shoulders.  We were going to need it.

16 Stations were set up.  I wanted to include a few stations to rest the arms and shoulders but most of them were lifting exercises.

  1. Suicide while carrying a 50# ruck.  This was the push.  Everything else was AMRAP.
  2. Coupon Swings
  3. Merkins
  4. Upright Rows
  5. Plank Jacks
  6. Bench Press
  7. Overhead Press
  8. Curls
  9. Walls Sits
  10. Coupon Swings
  11. Merkins
  12. Upright Rows
  13. Jump Rope (more on this lovely addition later)
  14. Bench Press
  15. Overhead Press
  16. Curls

Once the the circuit was completed we mosied once around the school and repeated.  The second time around we made it to 12 stations on our second go-round

Having the stations set up in a circle also allowed for some good 2nd F.  There was a fair amount of conversation going on and I was paying particular attention to those on the jump rope.  It’s an item that I haven’t seen at an F3 workout so I thought I would try something new and I was eager to see how it was received by the PAX.

Jumping rope is a simple exercise.  It’s one that we all did back in PE class.  Just a little hop over the rope as it slides under your feet.  Or so I thought. Tureen seemed to be pretty good at it.  In fact, most people seemed to have a pretty easy time with.  When I say most, I mean 15 out of 16.  I know I probably shouldn’t call out individuals or make fun of them, but sometimes you have to make an exception.

I would think that most people would consider Glen Ross a pretty athletic and coordinated guy.  Overall, he may be.  But the only two logical explanations for his “brand of jumping rope” is a) he has fooled us all and actually is pretty clumsy, or b) he has never seen a jump rope or seen someone jumping rope in his entire life!  Once he started at that station and we realized that his ability was not quite up to par, we kinda took a little break from whatever station we were at to watch.

Luckily I was able to obtain video.

Love ya GR. You’re welcome to borrow it anytime. Keep practicing and you’ll get the hang of it.  I can promise you, it will return to the gloom.

Overall he had some fun and laughs but more importantly we all got better.
