YHC was looking to get some ruck miles in prep for the April Columbus StarCourse and to qualify for the newest patch from GoRuck – Times Challenge. The requirements were to ruck 12 miles – no more, no less.
I had seen where Plumb Bob had scheduled a Black Ops ruck at the Big Four Bridge and he had a route planned out that would finish with a view overlooking downtown Louisville. When I arrived, I only saw Plumb Bob. We waited around until 5:06AM for other PAX to arrive but we didn’t see anyone and we headed on our way. The weather was colder than I expected given the wind near the Ohio River.
We started on the Kentucky side and around 5:30, we had looped back to our starting point as part of the route. We happened to run into Vacuum, who joined up with us. We crossed over to Indiana. I was amazed how far the walking path into Indiana as I had only rucked a few miles close to the Big 4 Bridge on the Indiana side.
Much like OJ, I am not a big fan of the black ice having sustaining a fall back in December that caused me to miss a few weeks. At one point, Plumb Bob saved me from falling again. It pays to have PAX looking out for you.
We had some great 2nd F conversation. We ended up going over 12 miles and earned another GoRuck patch (2nd one of this year and currently working on the Ruck a Mile a Day- but whose counting-lol). It was a great way to start a Sunday.
We ended with a COT before heading out.
